After closely monitoring the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in the insular areas and carefully considering the health and well-being of all those involved, as well as the challenges each of the island governments are facing, the Association of Pacific Islands Public Auditors (APIPA) has decided to move our 31st Annual Conference from an in-person conference to a virtual format.

We recognize how difficult it is to travel in August due to restrictions and COVID-19 challenges each insular government is facing. APIPA has excellent conference sessions and instructors ready to assist with professional development for insular area officials. The APIPA 2020 virtual conference will provide participants with access to timely, relevant course content in an online format spread over the first two weeks of August. Join us for professional development that will enable you to better serve insular government organizations and communities.

All of the APIPA 2020 courses are available free of charge for government accountability professionals within the insular areas. There is no cost to register and attend.

In order to attend APIPA 2020 sessions you must first register for the conference. Registration is free of charge, and can be completed at

All of the APIPA 2020 class sessions will be presented online using Zoom. You will need a computer (desktop or laptop) with a good internet connection so you can see and hear the presentations. This will be like participating in a Zoom meeting. You may connect to the classes from anywhere.

You do not need to have a Zoom account. You will be emailed a link for each class ahead of time. Click on the link in the email message about 10 minutes before the class starting time, and you will be connected automatically to the live class presentation. You need to register, sign in, and attend the session live to earn Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credit for each session. See Question 7 below for more details on earning certificates for each session.

The APIPA 2020 Secretariat has prepared a Zoom FAQ guide for APIPA 2020 participants.

In addition, orientation sessions for participants new to Zoom will be offered on Thursday, July 30th, and Friday, July 31st, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Saipan time. You only need to attend one of these sessions. Each session will include information and instructions about how to join a class and participate in it. We will check your video and audio connections, and make sure you are ready to attend the APIPA 2020 classes. Instructions for signing up for these orientation sessions will be emailed to all registered participants about one week ahead of time.

In order to make changes to your APIPA 2020 registration, please visit and log in with your Registration ID and Last Name. After logging in, please choose “Registration” on the left-hand column to make any changes.

Sixteen courses will be offered over the two-week period beginning Monday, August 3rd. Classes will be held Monday through Friday, and the conference will end on Friday, August 14th. All of the courses will last four hours, from 8 AM to noon, Saipan time.

You must pay attention to the time difference for your location. For example, 8 AM to noon Saipan time is 10 AM to 2 PM in the Marshall Islands. You may only participate in one course each day. Therefore, each participant may take a maximum of ten courses. Each course offers 4 Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits.
